Drew Linden is a Brooklyn based tattoo artist who fell in love with the art of tattoos from a young age. Since then, she's been following her heart and creating beautiful artwork. Her work is unique, colorful, precise, and beautiful. She wants the best for her clients and she is "enslaved" by the art. This is the perfect recipe for an amazing tattoo artist.
Social Decay: What made you want to be a tattoo artist?
Drew Linden: I had started getting tattooed at 16, so I always loved the art and what it stood for. For me, being different and having something I could identify with that wasn’t the norm. I started working at a tattoo shop at 19 after my first year in college where I was going for a journalism major. I literally fell in love with everything about being at the shop and helping people decide what they wanted on their bodies for the rest of their lives. And then I started to draw…and the art enslaved me. I was hooked.
SD: Do you do other forms of art, as well?
DL: I do a bit of watercolor. Mainly liquid acrylic on paper. Also, I ‘tattoo’ vintage Kewpie dolls :)
SD: What do you think sets you apart from other tattoo artists?
DL: I’m a really nice person who does her best to do clean tattoos. There must be more of us out there.
No, but I don’t know how to really answer this question. i try to remain humble and I get an honest joy working with my clients. I want them to feel the most comfortable at all times.
SD: Favorite kinds of tattoos to do?
DL: American Traditional is my all-time favorite. But I have been having so much fun experimenting with etching style art and dot work. If I could tattoo Roses all day i would.
SD: You have awesome personal style yourself, who are your style icons?
DL: Patti Smith, Stevie Nicks and Morrissey. I know they are musicians, but that’s where I get it from. Music is a huge part of my life and influence on my art and personal style. I literally just wanna wear things that make me feel good about myself…:)
